NEWS - Land Certificates Abolished

The Property Registration Authority (formerly known as the Land Registry) will no longer issue Land Certificates from the end of this year.

Any Land Certificates which issued prior to 1st January 2007 which are not already cancelled will cease to have force or effect from the 31st December 2009.  Until that date land certificates must be furnished with all applications by the registered owner.

From 1st January 2010 Land Certificates will cease to have any force or effect.   This means that applications for Lost Land Certificates will no longer have to made and that Land Certificates held by property owners in their homes will no longer be necessary to prove title.
